Headings

The daughter asked her mother to buy a pair of shoes for a needy classmate. Then mom bought all the shoes in the store

Helping people is important and necessary, as most children from an early age teach, trying to instill in the young generation love and compassion for their neighbors. However, children, as a rule, copy the behavior, manners and attitudes to life of their parents, and if they can not set an example for their children, including helping them in their positive aspirations, then any moralizing will make little sense. The story of a family from the city of Alma, which is located in Arkansas, proves that parents who are ready to support the good, and children are often more responsive to the problems of people nearby.

It all started with an ordinary family trip to the store

Carrie Jernigan and her children decided to go to the local supermarket to purchase a few pairs of shoes, as the old one began to wear out. They wandered between the rows, inspecting the goods, until the eldest daughter Carrie did not pay attention to some pretty shoes.

Unusual request

Seeing the shoes depicting the characters in the movie "Avengers", the girl asked her mother to buy them. When asked why she needed shoes from the boys' department, her daughter replied that she had a classmate who really liked these characters, and his shoes were too small for him, while he could not afford new ones. The woman was very moved by her daughter's attention to an outsider boy for her, so she could not refuse her desire to help her neighbor. She took the shoes with the Avengers along with all the other purchases and went to the checkout.

New idea

Already approaching the seller, Carrie Jernigan was thinking about whether something else could be done to develop her daughter's proposal. Helping one person is good, but it would be great to help others. When she asked how much the rest of the shoes in the store would cost, the consultant was very surprised.

He thought that the customer decided to play a joke on him, since this was the first case in his practice. However, the woman was serious and, having paid for all the goods from her card, bought about 300 pairs of various shoes, asking them to deliver them to her home.

So her help began for children from low-income families who needed new shoes. Over time, she acquired more and more shoes, boots and sneakers, thus supporting her daughter's first request. At first, she coped with it alone, but gradually her business began to attract public attention.

Time for good deeds

At the moment, there are about 1,500 pairs of shoes in the house of the Jernigan family, which are periodically distributed to those in need in the gym of a high school in Alma, Arkansas. In collaboration with the local church, the woman continues to help her students. Her own children, including the eldest daughter, who submitted this idea to her, actively support this initiative.

As Carrie herself said in an interview with one of the local television channels: “When I ask my children who they want to be when they grow up, they tell me that they will be good and kind people. And this is very important for me, because if they think so, then they have everything in order with feelings and attitude towards their neighbors, which means that they will be fine. ”

This story, which began on a very ordinary day and eventually turned into a whole charity event aimed at helping people, showing that in families where children are brought up by the same responsive parents, they themselves become attentive to the problems of their neighbor. In turn, the parents themselves are also able to support them, sometimes not only morally, but also materially. It’s not necessary to invest as much as the heroine of this story, but to help children with their good ideas is the way to develop a good and worthy person who can help not only loved ones, but also strangers in a difficult situation.
