Former Victoria's Secret model recovered 1.5 cm at the hips and was fired from the modeling business

The model world has been developing at a very rapid pace in recent years. Some brands have stopped retouching photos of models in their advertisements. Many models prefer naturalness in hairstyle and appearance, however, the requirements for them are growing.

Australian model Bridget Malcolm posted a blog post on Tuesday. She said that she was recently fired from her job after her hips increased by 1.5 cm.

Malcolm, who has worked for brands like Victoria's Secret, Ralph Lauren, and Stella McCartney, also shared an Instagram post on Wednesday about women's recovery and health.

In social networks, the model also stated that it was thanks to her professional activities that she strengthened her health and developed a habit of eating properly. She also now works out of specialists who help her maintain good health.

Bridget Malcolm claims that after dismissal, she gained the long-awaited freedom

Malcolm often publishes on his blog personal essays on good nutrition, mental health, eating disorders, and women's empowerment. In her last post entitled Healthy Fashion, Malcolm said she did not dare to blame the fashion industry for her mental health and eating disorders.

“I need to clearly understand exactly how the environment shaped my mental state,” Malcolm wrote in her post. - I have always worked very hard, so blaming the model industry or someone else for my problems is simply incorrect. It’s not someone’s fault, it’s my burden and my choice, for which I am ready to answer. And I'm proud of myself for working there. ”

However, the girl admits that constant and enhanced weight control was reflected in her mental state.

What else did the model talk about

“Some models support the required size without much effort,” she continued. “I'm not one of those girls.” And this, of course, has put enormous pressure on me over the past 14 years of working as a model. ”

The girl claims that she was quite successful when the volume of her hips did not exceed 83 cm. After the volume increased by 1.5 cm, many representatives of the modeling business rejected the girl, not wanting to cooperate with her in the future. In their opinion, the girl’s figure is not suitable for fashion shows and filming.

The girl claims that she is not very upset about this, since now her weight has returned to normal and she is not experiencing any health problems, as it was before.

Malcolm wrote an appeal on Instagram

Some modeling agencies continue to collaborate with Bridget Malcolm, moreover, they support her and express solidarity. In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Malcolm said she was pleased to see changes in the modeling industry. She also shared comparative photographs that show her a few weeks after she was denied modeling work, next to those where she is portrayed as a model a couple of months ago. There is a tangible difference between them.

“The girl in these photos did not have her period, and she needed to sleep 12 hours a day in order to function,” Malcolm writes about himself.

“I am so grateful that all this is behind. It required a lot of dedication and a long recovery, but it was worth it, ”the girl concluded.

Malcolm is very glad that with her current weight, a place in the modeling industry was still found for her.

Dangerous trend

A 2017 study shows that women in the modeling industry are actually constantly striving for weight loss.

In 2017, the International Journal of Eating Disorders teamed up with Model Alliance, a nonprofit law firm, to survey 85 female models at New York Fashion Week. According to Vogue, their results revealed a serious problem in the modeling industry, and it was associated with excessive and unhealthy weight loss in models.
