Cecile and Marilyn Roberts, an elderly couple from Texas, had no idea what to expect when they returned home on a late March evening. To the surprise of the spouses, the whole family gathered at their place to surprise them.
Cecile and Marilyn, of course, were embarrassed and puzzled. They did not know what all their relatives had gathered in honor of: it was still a long way to the wedding anniversary or their birthdays. They would know that soon they will be presented with another surprise that will definitely change their whole life.
Despite their advanced age, the couple still work, and work full time as a correctional officer and a member of the US Postal Service. They love to travel, but most of their salaries go to accounts, especially to the mortgage for their house.

Grandson's gift
The inscription on the sheet made Cecile immediately jump up and throw herself into the arms of her grandson Stephen.
The sheet turned out to be a huge home-made check, and what was written on it seemed incredible. Fifteen thousand dollars to pay off a mortgage was a gift from a loving grandson to his grandparents!
Stefan Darts, a twenty-four-year-old college student, was saving his own money for several years in a row. Helping grandparents with money was a dream of his life.
Cecile and Marilyn took care of their grandson when he went to first grade, and then the boy promised himself to pay them back the same. He never forgot about his promise to himself and, as an adult, was able to fulfill it.
How did Stefan fulfill his dream?
Of course, this was by no means easy. Stefan took years of strict self-discipline and wear and tear. Any student will tell how difficult it is to accumulate even a small amount, and Stefan had even more difficult. The guy worked at once on several jobs - literally from selling pizza to selling real estate.
“I slept four to five hours a day,” Stefan shares his memories. “I only ate pizza heated in the microwave. My friends can confirm that I almost never went for a walk.”
His friends did not even know why Stephen did not go out, but now he can tell them.
Work on wear and such sacrifice on the part of the student paid off, because grandparents were amazed and endlessly happy about this surprise.
Relatives reaction
“I could not believe it,” Marilyn Roberts shares her impressions. “Having such a grandson is just a blessing from above.”
"Stefan is a special kid, and the fact that he is my grandson is a great pride and happiness for me," says Cecile.
Other family members were shocked and pleased no less.
“The surprise of my parents and their faces at that moment is simply priceless,” says Travel Roberts, Stephen’s uncle.
“I just cried then. It was so sweet of Stefan,” added Stefan's mom, Stephanie Wyatt.
However, despite the surprise, everyone knew that something similar could be expected from Stefan. In addition to helping grandparents, Stefan is also the founder of Caring Heart of Youth, a nonprofit organization that helps young people in need.
However, the surprises did not end there.After presenting the check, Stefan admitted that this is not the only gift - the guy also handed tickets to the Bahamas for the elderly spouses!
Stefan believes that this is only a small part of what he can do for his grandparents.
Future plans of Cecile and Marilyn
Spouses paid for their home over the past two decades and would have paid the same if not for the gift of Stephen. However, despite these fifteen thousand dollars, an elderly couple is in no hurry to retire: now they will work for themselves, and not in order to pay heavy bills.
